I don’t know about you, but I love of seeing other people’s homes and creative spaces. A peek into an artist’s studio is something that inspires me artistically as well as aesthetically. So many times that before I can paint, write or even just work, I need to organize and beautify my space. Even a messy studio has a sense of order to the artist. The freedom of not having to always clean up the studio is something that makes the transition in and out of creating much easier.

I am reading a great book called Simplicity Parenting. There is a chapter dedicated to a child’s environment. Simplifying our surroundings and creating a sense of order helps us work, think and be creative. And of course, having a space that is only our own is empowering and sacred for adults as well as children. Creating these spaces within our homes feels important, like a little retreat and escape from the chaos. All hail the artists studio!

Where do you like to create? Do you have a space all your own?
